Oslo Economics and Oslo Research have been awarded a contract by the Ministry of Education to survey to which extent children and youth with a migration background have been left behind abroad and to assess how local government authorities respond to their situation. The project is part of the Government’s Action Plan to Combat Negative Social Control, Forced Marriage and Female Genital Mutilation. The study is primarily carried out by Oslo Economics, while Research Professor Margunn Bjørnholt from Oslo Research participates in an advisory capacity. It will result in a report to the government by the end of 2019.
The government has also appointed an expert committee that will assess individual cases.
