Oslo Research (ORES), the Department of Social Sciences and Business at Roskilde University (Denmark) and the Turku School of Economics at the University of Turku (Finland) have received a grant from the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Gender Equality Fund for a research network on care in the Nordic welfare states.
The aim of the network is to discuss the status of care work in the Nordic welfare states in the light of the neo-liberal turn in politics, and moreover, what this means for gender equality.
The discussion will develop around the question of whether there is a care crisis in the Nordic welfare states, and in that case of what the characteristics of this crisis and the major areas of concern in regard to gender equality and welfare state sustainability are.
The network will publish an edited book as well as organize a summer school for Nordic and international students and a dissemination conference for policy and decision makers.
